European Court Condemns Russia for Chechen Disappearance
The European Court has found Russia responsible for the enforced disappearance of a young Chechen man from the village of Mesker-Yurt, Chechnya, Russian Justice Initiative said today.

European Court of Human Rights Condemns Russia in Two Chechen Disappearance Cases
The European Court of Human Rights condemned Russia in two cases concerning enforced disapperances in Chechnya, Russian Justice Initiative said today. The Applicants in both cases sought redress for the disappearance of two men from different locations in Chechnya between 2002 and 2003.

The European Court of Human Rights has unanimously condemned Russia in two cases concerning enforced disappearances in Chechnya and one case concerning an extra-judicial killing in Ingushetia, Russian Justice Initiative said today.

Human Rights Watch Releases Report on Implementation of "Chechen Judgments"
The report Who Will Tell Me What Happened to My Son?, on which RJI was a close collaborator, describes the lack of progress made by Russia in implementing ECtHR decisions from Chechnya, and details some of the post-judgment developments in many of RJI’s cases, including Bazorkina, Imakayeva, Baysayeva, and Khatsiyeva and others. Human Rights Watch officially communicated this report to the Committee of Ministers in September under Rule 9 of the Rules for the Supervision of the Execution of Judgments.

Rights Activist who assisted Chechens' Appeal to the European Court of Human Rights Brutally Murdered
Natalia Estemirova, one of Russia's most courageous and well-respected human rights defenders, was found shot to death in Ingushetia on 15 July 2009, following an abduction from her home in Grozny by unidentified men earlier that day, Russian Justice Initiative (RJI) said today.
